Other Feedback Sessions

Roundtables (*Limited Pitch & AD assignment spaces=additional Cost with Registration; FREE to come listen in & learn from the feedback)
*A registration link and password will be included in your registration confirmation from the Highlights Foundation.
Authors & Translators: In these practice pitch sessions, a maximum of six participants per table will have ten minutes to present their pitch to the agent or editor and receive feedback on the pitch and ask questions. We recommend that you keep your pitch to 3 to 5 minutes to allow time for feedback and questions from the agent or editor.
Illustrators: In this session, a maximum of six participants will receive feedback on their art director assignment.

Art Director Assignment: Create a character and show them in a setting that tells a story about the character. When the viewer sees the piece, we need to be able to say a few things about the character’s personalities or their environments.

Mock Pile (Free with Registration)

Deadline: TBA

We regret we may not be able to use all submissions due to time constraints but we will try to accommodate a variety of genres.

Authors & Translators: Agents and editor will walk their small group through their personal “slush pile” process, reviewing anonymous query samples from participants. Submissions should include all of the following:
  1. a one-page query letter (max 250 words)
  2. the first 250 words of your manuscript
  3. a one-page synopsis (max 250 words)
Please, note that all three portions of the query sample may not be read, depending on the faculty member’s personal query review style and material preference.
Illustrators: Agents and art director will provide feedback on anonymous illustrator postcard submissions from participants.
