Let’s Be Honest: 33 Truths About Publishing
with literary agent Stephen Fraser

In this session, Stephen Fraser, senior agent for The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency and a 40-year veteran of publishing, will share some truths about the publishing world that will startle, surprise, fascinate, and entertain audience members who are hoping to embark on literary careers. He will take you inside an editor’s office and share some secrets that only agents know.
A limited number of written critiques are available.
CRITIQUES: (at additional cost of $50) Submissions are due on or before Friday, October 22, 2021. For picture books, send one full manuscript plus a 2-3 sentence pitch in the same document. For MG/YA, send up to 10 pages of your manuscript, plus a one-page synopsis. (Include synopsis in the same document; please don’t send two documents.) Format your work in 12 point font, with one-inch margins, and double spacing.

Stephen Fraser has been a literary agent with The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency in New York City for sixteen years, after working for more than twenty-five years at seven major publishers including Harper-Collins, Simon & Schuster, and Scholastic. His clients have won the Newbery Honor Medal, both the Edgar and PEN awards, and received multiple starred reviews. He is graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in English Literature and has a Master’s Degree in Children’s Literature from Simmons College in Boston. Stephen is a popular speaker at writer’s conferences throughout the country.
