Webinar 2:

Back Matter Matters

with editor Andrea Welch

Monday, March 7, 2022 @7:00pm EST

(Lecture recording will be available for all participants registered before the event.)

We’ve all probably heard that nonfiction is “having a moment” right now. But with nonfiction comes the matter of back matter. How much should or shouldn’t a nonfiction text be tied to back matter information (like is it an explanation or an extension of the information in the book?) What about research and bibliographies? Are there any unacceptable sources? How about a number or type of sources that editors prefer? Is there a preferred bibliography style (i.e. APA, Chicago, et al)? What forms can back matter take? Should we stick to a simple author’s note when querying? And just how polished does the back matter have to be when submitting a manuscript for consideration? Bring your curiosity and join executive editor Andrea Welch for the answer to these questions and many more.

A limited number of written critiques are available.

CRITIQUES: (at additional cost of $50) Andrea will be critiquing NONFICTION PICTURE BOOKS ONLY. Submissions are due on or before Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
