Thirty PAL members will have the opportunity to share their books at the ALA Midwinter Conference. Signings will span one hour; will be announced in our program and on our social media channels; and authors participating in the signings will be listed in our READ LOCAL campaign for the 2020 – 2021 school year.
For $40, you can sign up and the chapter will provide you a time to share your books at the booth during the ALA conference on Saturday, January 25 or Sunday, January 26. (You can notify us of any conflicts through the weekend.) Some session times will be in pairs, some will be solo.
At the table you will decide how to use the one-hour signing time. You may sell your books, give away your books, promote giveaways, distribute school visitation materials and teacher guides, (or something more than we can imagine to list here!) This is a great opportunity to meet teachers and librarians, as well as other professionals in the children’s book industry.
You will be responsible for your admission into the conference in general, and must have at the very least an exhibitor hall pass. (Check with your publisher as some publishers have set aside passes for their authors and illustrators.) Here is a link to the ALA registration. If you only sign up for one day, please be sure to let us know so that your time at the SCBWI table can be set for that day.
Please note that you must be signed in to your SCBWI account as a PAL member to purchase booth time at ALA Midwinter.
If you are assigned a time that does not work for you, please be in contact no later than December 5. After this date there will be no schedule changes or reimbursements.
