Illustrator Day is it! Whether you’re published or just joined SCBWI, you don’t want to miss our annual event for illustrators. We’ll be meeting on Saturday, September 8th, at the Artists of Yardley in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Attendees can participate in all the offerings or pick and choose to best meet their needs.


Join us for the faculty presentations and spend the day networking with area illustrators. Complete the Art Director Assignment and receive feedback from Dana Fritts, Balzer + Bray. Bring your portfolio to display in the Portfolio Showcase for our faculty and attendees to view. Want more? Submit your promotional postcard for the “First Impressions” session with Alexandra Penfold and find out if it grabs an agent’s attention. Still not enough? Go one step further and complete the Art Director’s Challenge and register for a one-on-one portfolio critique with a publishing professional. Illustrator Amy June Bates, art director Dana Fritts and agent Alexandra Penfold are excited to meet our members and help you take your art to the next level!   


To take advantage of any of these opportunities, you need to register. Don’t delay, there are limited spots available!

Scholarship Information: New this year, we will offer one scholarship that will cover the cost of event registration. Additional expenses, such as faculty portfolio/dummy critiques and transportation to/from the event, are not included. Any current EPA SCBWI member may apply. To apply, please send an email to by July 8th with a link to a website that has examples of your illustrations and an explanation why you’re applying for the scholarship. The scholarship winner will be asked to arrive at the event at 7:30 AM and stay until 6 PM to assist with set-up and clean-up the day of the event. The Artists of Yardley is conveniently located right off I-95. Free parking.

Or use Amtrak to Trenton Station from NY or Septa to Woodbourne Station on the West Trenton Line, and then taxi to the Artists of Yardley facility.
