with Agent Alexandra Penfold
Is your promotional postcard working as hard as it should?
In a time of ‘closed houses,’ illustrators are lucky. Most publishers won’t accept unsolicited manuscripts; however, illustrators have the opportunity to send promotional postcards to editors, art directors, and agents, to help promote their work. But is your promotional postcard working? Will it grab an art director’s attention? In our First Impressions session, agent Alexandra Penfold will review attendees’ promotional postcards in front of the group and tell us what works and what might be improved.
This opportunity is included in the event registration fee. If you’d like to receive feedback on a postcard you’ve already printed, or one you’re planning to print, please email a single medium resolution jpg that shows both the front and back of your postcard to the EPA illustrator coordinator, Virginia Law Manning, at email@example.com by August 31, 2018. Please indicate “First Impressions Submission” in the subject line of the email. Late submissions will not be accepted. **Please be advised due to time constraints, the agent will only be able to review a selection of submissions. We cannot promise your postcard will be selected.**
Submit: A medium resolution jpg of the front and back of your promotional postcard saved as one file. Please email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate “First Impressions Submission” in the subject line of the email.
Deadline: August 31, 2018
