Professional Manuscript, Portfolio or Dummy Critiques

Q: Want professional feedback on your WIP?

The Digging Deep into the Picture Book Creation Process

workshop offers attendees 2 opportunities!

In conjunction with the Digging Deep workshop, Eastern PA SCBWI will offer attendees two opportunities to have a manuscript, dummy or portfolio critiqued by a professional working in the industry.

When registering for the event, authors and illustrators may chose to add-on a One-on-One Critique with Michael Rex, which will take place during the event on November 9th. In addition, after the event, attendees will have the opportunity to register for an online written critique on a manuscript or dummy with one of several editors, including Emily Feinberg, Roaring Brook Press, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group; Joanna Cardenas, Kokila, an imprint of Penguin Random House; and Samantha Gentry and Esther Cajahuaringa, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Hachette Book Group.

ONE-ON-ONE CRITIQUES WITH MICHAEL REX

A limited number of 15-minute, one-on-one critique spots are available. Authors and illustrators who have a picture book or chapter book manuscript; a dummy or a portfolio are encouraged to register for a one-on-one critique to receive feedback at the event. Please note that critiques will be scheduled throughout the day.

POST EVENT WRITTEN CRITIQUES

The faculty attending the November 9th workshop plan to share their insights and tools to help authors and illustrators develop their work further, to push boundaries, to simplify and to explore. After the event, attendees will have the opportunity to register for an additional manuscript or dummy critique with a publishing professional, including editors Emily Feinberg, Roaring Brook Press; and Samantha Gentry and Esther Cajahuaringa, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. Stay tuned for the names of the other editors performing these post-event critiques!

Attendees will be able to select the faculty they wish to critique their work on a first-come, first-served basis. Feedback will be provided via written comments only. These critique opportunities will cost $45 for members; and $55 for non-members.

Post-event online critique opportunities will be open to event attendees only.
