Peer-to-Peer Roundtable Critiques
(Free with registration)
Peer-to-Peer manuscript, dummy and portfolio critiques will take place in the morning of November 9th. Participants will be split into groups of 4 or 5 based on the type of submission: manuscript, dummy or portfolio. In order to give participants time to review the work created by their ‘team’ mates, all participants are encouraged to submit their work by October 8th. Please read the guidelines below carefully!
Illustrators who wish to receive feedback on a picture book or board book manuscript are encouraged to email their submissions to EPA SCBWI Critique Group Coordinator Heather Stigall at scbwiepaCGC@gmail.com by October 8th. If you’re registering after that date, please submit your manuscripts to Heather as soon as possible. (Please submit only one manuscript. If your manuscript is longer than ten pages, please only submit the first ten pages for critique.)
Format: 12pt font, double-spaced, one-inch margins all edges, page numbers, and use .doc or .docx format.
Include your name, email, title and word count on the first page of the submission, followed by your one or two sentence pitch*.
Save your manuscript document as follows:
for Picture Books: DD2019/PB_YourLastName/TITLE OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT (for ex. DD2019/PB_Stigall/THREE LITTLE WIGS)
for Board Books: DD2019/BB_YourLastName/TITLE OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT (for ex. DD2019/BB_Stigall/ABC COLORS
Deadline: October 8th (if you’re registering after October 8th, please email your manuscript to Heather as soon as possible)
Subject Line: Please use subject line Peer-to-Peer MS Submission.
*Don’t forget the one to two sentence pitch!
Illustrators who register for a Peer-to-Peer Dummy Critique will receive a Dropbox link where they should upload their work. Illustrators should also bring a printed copy of your dummy to the meeting. *SCBWI cannot be responsible for loss or damage to original artwork.
Deadline: Please upload your dummy to the Dropbox by October 8, 2019. (If you register after October 8th, please upload your dummy as soon as possible.) If you don’t have a digital dummy, you can still participate. Just bring a printed copy of your dummy to the meeting on November 9th.
Format: Digital dummies should be saved as a single PDF file with text in place.
PORTFOLIO OR ILLUSTRATION CRITIQUES
Illustrator wishing to receive feedback on their portfolio or illustrations will receive a Dropbox link where they will upload jpgs or PDFs of their work or a link to their illustrator website. Illustrators are also encouraged to bring prints* of their illustrations to the meeting. *SCBWI cannot be responsible for loss or damage to original artwork.
Deadline: Please upload your work/or portfolio link to the Dropbox by October 8, 2019. (If you register after October 8th, please upload your dummy as soon as possible.) If you don’t have jpgs or PDFs of your work, you can still participate by bringing prints of your work to the meeting.
